Text messaging will deliver big results for your business this Christmas
Our letter boxes and email inboxes are flooded with promotion after promotion in December but how many extra text messages have you received so far? I’m guessing not so many. With only 1% of SMS being spam, it’s not a surprise 98% of text messages are read, on average within 5 seconds.
If you’re looking for a new way to engage with your customers and to promote your business this Christmas, you might be missing out on one of the most successful, result-provoking forms of communication. The trustworthy text message.
We’ve made a list of ways you can use SMS this December and January…
1. Make it easy to purchase
We’ve all got what seems like a never ending list of presents to buy. So, we’ve got a brilliant idea for you. The easier you make it for your customers to purchase a gift, the more appealing it is for them. Rather than texting a link to your website, choose one of your best deals and send a link out to allow customers to purchase at the click of a button.
Struggling for a present for him? We’ve got tickets to the next game for half price, quick only 10 left! [Insert link]
2. Send a mobile coupon
SMS coupons are redeemed 8% more than email coupons and average click through rates are 19% with SMS compared with 4.2% with email, meaning text messages are a great marketing platform. Texting a promotional code means the customer doesn’t need to have the tangible voucher with them when they make the purchase
3. Ask your customers to share
Offer your customers a discount they can share with their friends and family for a further discount! Word of mouth is free, so encouraging this is a great way to grow your audience.
Merry Christmas, Lauren! To thank you for all your custom in 2017 we’ve got a personal 10% code for you to share with your friends and family. Each time your code ‘LAU20’ is used, we’ll add £5 credit added to your account to use! Spread the word!
4. Create urgency
When a text message is read, you want your customer to take action immediately before it gets lost in their inbox. Ipsos Mori found, time-sensitive offers spur 52% of customers to make a purchase.
Create urgency by using phrases such as:
